Why I chose DESS and hope you do as well!

I have now been with DESS for over two years as its President for our US business. I consider it an honor to serve the customers, employees, and partners of this unique and wonderful company. I want to take this opportunity to share my story of why I chose DESS, and why I believe every lab, every clinician, every DSO, and all dental professionals should too.

First, quality is the price of entry. There is zero compromise on quality with DESS. Personal story, during the interview process with DESS I visited our production facility in Barcelona. I have been in many high-quality milling centers over my career – Atlantis, Procera, Glidewell, Argen, Bellatek – and DESS has the nicest, most efficient facility I have been in. Each part, whether a prosthetic screw, MUA or analog, is milled to the most precise standards. This process is controlled during the machining process and then checked again post-mill to ensure there is not the tiniest deviation. We are so confident in our quality that we offer a lifetime warranty on our parts AND the implant(s) they are used with – provided the implant manufacturer denies the implant warranty.

Innovation That Actually Helps the Customer

In addition to quality, DESS innovates. We do not just stop at providing a reliable, consistent, and predictable restorative component. We have developed the concept of PureSwitch, which means you do not need to purchase new tooling to utilize DESS products. You simply use the tooling from the OEM. This makes using DESS simple, efficient, and more affordable.

We own the patent for ZrN coating on abutments. ZrN provides several advantages. It strengthens the component, offers warm esthetics, and protects against bacteria around the implant site which can lead to less irritation and a lower chance of peri implantitis.

DESS is also among the leaders in screw technology. All of these innovations add value and provide better implant restorations for patients, clinicians, and labs.

Affordable Pricing Without Sacrificing Performance

DESS products have a story to tell. If you know me, you know I am passionate about implant dentistry. The thing about passionate people is they have to believe in what they are doing in order to be comfortable and use that passion. Well, I am passionate about DESS! We have top quality products, we innovate, and we do all of this while maintaining prices that allow our customers to be more profitable. Since I started my career in dentistry, pricing has continued to rise. This has placed financial pressure on dental labs and dental clinics and in many cases has made dentistry difficult to afford for patients. DESS is committed to keeping our pricing reasonable so the lab and the dentist can lower their COGS without sacrificing any quality.

Finally, the company itself is a winner with great culture and leadership. DESS is a third generation family business. The Terrats brothers are all still active in the business and truly enjoy engaging with customers to learn more about the needs of the industry. I can give many examples of how they do more than just engage – they listen and take action. There are several products that we offer that came directly from clinicians or labs expressing a need.
